How It Happened
The first quarter was a defensive affair, as neither team registered a shot nor a penalty corner and action inside the circles was scarce.
Both teams got on the board in the second quarter, with the Hawks striking first. Two minutes into the quarter, Manu Ghigliotti crossed a ball to Culp, who buried it for a lead.
Midway through the second, though, Penn was awarded the first penalty corner of the game. Ryan took it and find Chapman finished to tie the contest at 1-1 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Hawks separated themselves from the Quakers.
The Hawks dictated the offensive pace and were awarded their first penalty corner five minutes into the third. Duffhuis scored once to break the tie, then again two minutes later off another penalty corner. SJU added another goal as time expired in the period, after getting a penalty corner on the final play of the quarter. Celeste Smits ripped it past
Ruby de Frees to make it a 4-1 game going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Hawks added another goal. Once again Ghigliotti found Culp to extend SJU's lead to four, which would hold for the rest of the game.
