PHILADELPHIA – The road to Paris begins this weekend in Indianapolis. The University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving program will send four swimmers—
Matthew Fallon,
Daniel Gallagher,
Kevin Keil, and
Anna Kalandadze—to U.S. Olympic Trials with a chance to qualify for Team USA ahead of August's Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Fallon, a favorite to contend for the podium in the 200-meter breaststroke, will also swim the 100 breast at Trials while Gallagher is set for the 200m backstroke. Keil will go in the 400m individual medley and Kalandadze will swim both the 800 and 1,500-meter freestyle.
Fallon enters the competition as the top seed in the 200 breast with a time of 2:07.71 after winning a U.S. National title last summer before winning the bronze medal at World Championships in Japan. The junior standout had a strong third season for the Quakers in 2024, winning the Ivy League title in the 200-yard breast in March before taking second place at NCAA Championships in the same event later that month, earning first-team All-America honors. In the 200m, Fallon's seed time is just a bit quicker than Jake Foster (2:08.23), Josh Matheny (2:08.32), and Nic Fink (2:08.85).
He'll also swim the 100 breast, entering the week as the ninth-fastest time in the nation at 59.92. Fink is the top seed at 58.36.
Gallagher will swim at Trials, notching the 56th-best time in the nation in the 200 back with a mark of 2:01.28. Keil is ranked 69th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.60.
Kalandadze qualified for Trials a couple weeks ago at Rutgers in both the 800m and 1,500m free. In the 800, her seed time of 8:43.20 is the 39th-fastest in the nation. The top seed is seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky (8:43.20). Kalandadze tallied a time of 16:43.36 in the 1500 to rank 34th heading into the weekend. Ledecky is also the top seed in the event, entering with a seed time of 15:26.27.
The entirety of the U.S. Olympic Trials will be broadcast live on NBC's family of networks including NBC, USA Network, and Peacock. Complete broadcast information can be found
