PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania track teams had a successful day hosting the Penn Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Field, with the women winning nine events and the men winning four.
Final Results
Women's highlights…
*Bella Whittaker, Jocelyn Niemiec and Christiana Nwachuku went 1-2-3 in the women's 400, Whittaker clocking 52.11 which is eighth nationally while Niemiec remained sixth on the program's top 10 list but improved her time by three-tenths of a second.
*Whittaker also won the 200 and matched her previous best of 23.62 seconds. Nwachuku was second in 23.83 seconds (.17 off her top time), while Aliya Garozzo (24.42) was fourth and Caia Gelli (24.77) was fifth.
*Tumi Onaleye, Adannia Agbo, and Ijeoma Eziri went 1-2-3 in the women's triple jump.
*Angeludi Asaah and Stella Inman went 1-2 in the women's discus, with Inman's distance a PR that nudged her into the program's top 10 list.
*Sarah Lavery won the women's high jump at 1.70m (5 feet 7 inches) which matches her career best.
*Garozzo won the women's 100 hurdles in 13.65 seconds, which pushed her into fourth on the program's all-time top 10 list.
*Camille Jordan won the women's 800 in 2:13.60.
*Elliot Bush won the women's javelin with a top distance of 43.88 meters (143 feet 11 inches).
*Amelia Kristen and Annika Topchy finished second and fourth, respectively, in the women's 400 hurdles with Kristen's time (1:01.58) putting her tenth on the program's top-10 list.
*Asaah also finished second in the shot put, her top throw of 13.60 meters (44 feet 7.5 inches) putting her eighth on the program's top 10 list.
Men's highlights…
*Freshman
Ryan Matulonis clocked the fastest time in the men's 400 (47.69 seconds).
*Another freshman,
Nayyir Newash-Campbell, had the fastest time in the men's 200 (21.48 seconds) while
Aaron Stillitano (21.82) was fourth and
Andrew O'Donnell (21.86) was fifth.

James Rhoads won the pole vault, clearing a height of 5.30 meters (17 feet 4.5 inches).
*
Mark Hellwig won the men's high jump, clearing 2.09 meters (6 feet 10.25 inches), while
Conrad Moore was third at 1.96 meters (6 feet 5 inches).
*Stillitano also finished second in the 100-meter dash but his time (10.52 seconds) puts him eighth on the program's top-10 list.
