PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team shaved 13 strokes from its first round to its second round on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational, and the Quakers are sixth in a field of 13 teams after the first day of action.
The two-day, 54-hole event is being played on the par-71 course at Springdale Golf Club off Princeton's campus.

Penn shot 298 as a team in Saturday morning's first round but rebounded with a 1-over-par 285 in the afternoon's second round, finishing the day at 15-over-par 583. Howard is the leader after the first day after ending the 36 holes at 2-under-par 566; that has the Bison two shots ahead of tournament host Princeton (even-par 568), three shots ahead of Seton Hall (569), and six shots ahead of Columbia (572). Among the other Ivy teams in the field, Penn is ahead of Harvard (590), Dartmouth (598) and Cornell (625).
Junior
George Roessler was Penn's low scorer on the day, shooting a 1-over-par 72 and then an even-par 71 to finish the day at 143. That has him tied for 14th among 75 golfers. Freshman
Max Fonseca is one shot behind Roessler and 19th overall at 2-over-par 144, while classmate
Hayden Adams went under par in the afternoon and ended the day at 4-over-par 146 which has him tied for 22nd.
Ben Scott shaved four shots from the morning to the afternoon and ended the day at 150, and
Jimin Jung ended the day at 155.
Howard's Gregory Odom Jr. is the individual leader through 36 holes, finishing the day at 6-under-par 136. That has him one shot ahead of Harvard Brian Ma and Seton Hall's Wanxi Sun and two ahead of his Bison teammate, Everett Whiten Jr.
