In addition to resetting her own standard, Morganti's win also was the first in an individual track event by a Penn woman at the Penn Relays. Prior to today, the Quakers' previous individual women's titles had come in the heptathlon—Frances Childs in 1988, Shani Boston in 2004, Noel Jancewicz in 2014—and in the high jump (Anna Peyton Malizia in 2019).
Morganti's time puts her tenth nationally in the event and fifth in the East.
On the men's side, freshman
Ryan Matulonis ran the second-best time in the men's 400-meter hurdles, clocking 51.25 seconds. In that same event on the women's side, freshman Ameila Kristen broke the minute mark with a PR of 59.77 seconds, pushing her up another spot to sixth on the program's top 10 list in the event.
Edwin Klanke clocked a PR 3:43.52 in the men's 1,500 on Thursday night, good for sixth on the program's top 10 list.
