Orlando, Fla. – The 42nd-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team fell to UCF on Monday morning, 4-0 in Orlando.
The Quakers are now 10-6 and 2-3 on the road.
In doubles play, UCF picked up wins at No. 2 as Lleyton Cronje/Liam Branger defeated
Manfredi Graziani/
Parashar Bharadwaj, and at No. 1 Yassine Dlimi/Paul Colin powered past
Aaron Sandler/
Kian Vakili to secure the doubles point. At No. 3, the pairing of
Baylor Sai and
Matthew Rutter were ahead in their match, 5-3, when it was halted.
In singles action, Dlimi handled Graziani 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. Branger defeated Sai in straight sets at No. 4 to extend the lead to 3-0 for the Knights.
At No. 3, Cronje and Sandler went back and forth in set one, with Cronje earning the 7-5 win, but in game two Cronje blew past Sandler 6-0, securing the 4-0 victory.
Among matches that did not finish, Vakili was in game four of the second set at No. 2, Rutter was in the seventh game of his second set at No. 5, and at No. 6, Bharadwaj was in the tenth game of the second set.
