PHILADELPHIA- The 57th-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team dropped its 4-2 match to Princeton Saturday evening to begin Ivy League play.

Kian Vakili then defeated Paul Inchauspe/Filippos Astreinidis 7-6 to give the Red and Blue the 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Fnu Nidunjianzan picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win over Vakili at No. 2 to even the match 1-1. The Tigers jumped ahead to a 2-1 lead after Ardilla defeated Sandler 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4.
Rutter tied the match 2-2 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Short at No. 5 to account for Penn's lone singles win of the day.
At No. 1, Graziani fell to Inchauspe 7-5, 6-3, which gave Princeton the 3-2 edge.
Although Sai took set one, Sec took the next two sets to secure the match at No. 4
Among matches that did not finish, Bharadwaj and Kam were tied at one set apiece at No. 6 when the match was halted.
The Quakers led after grabbing the doubles point, but the Tigers took four singles matches in route to the win.

Penn will continue Ivy League play when the Quakers travel to Ithaca to take on No. 31 Cornell. First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
