PHILADELPHIA- The 55th-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team added two more wins on Sunday, moving to 14-7 this season. The Red and Blue took down Drexel, 4-0 and Wagner, 4-0 at the Hecht Tennis Center.
The Quakers are 11-2 at home and have won their last four matches.
In the opening match against the Dragons, Penn picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2,
Aaron Sandler/
Kian Vakili defeated Egor Kirakosov/Huessein El Tawil 6-2, while
Matthew Rutter/
Baylor Sai earned the 6-2 win at No. 3.
In singles action, the Red and Blue earned all three victories at the bottom half of the lineup. Rutter picked up the next point for the Quakers with his 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 over Kirakosov. Sandler made the match 3-0 with his straight set win over Josue Guzman at No. 4.
Parashar Bharadwaj then defeated Pierre Humayou 6-2, 6-1 to ensure the 4-0 victory for Penn.
Among matches that did not finish,
Manfredi Graziani was in the seventh game of his second set at No. 1, Vakili was entering his third set at No. 2 and Sai was in the sixth game of his second set at No. 3.
In the final match of the day, the Quakers once again played strong throughout doubles play. Moving up a slot to No. 1, Sandler/Vakili picked up the 6-0 win over Filippo Tonnicchi/Rodrigo Perez.
At No. 2, Rutter/Sai defeated Sebastian Dobson/Kunsh Moolchandani 6-1, and at No. 3
Tal Goodman/Bharadwaj picked up the 6-1 win over Aryan Gupta/Lucas Darling.
With a 1-0 lead, Penn continued to dominate throughout singles play.
Sandler picked up a strong 6-1, 6-0 win over Jordan Hunte at No. 3 to make the match 2-0.
Soon after, Rutter continued his winning ways, with a straight set victory over Dobson at No. 4.
Goodman closed out the match at No. 6, with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Darling to ensure the second 4-0 sweep of the day.
Among matches that did not finish, Vakili, at the No. 1 spot, was entering his second game when it was abandoned. In addition, Sai at No. 2 was in the fifth game of his second set and Bharadwaj was in the sixth game of his second set at No.5.

Penn will open Ivy League play next weekend when Princeton heads to Philadelphia. The Tigers and Quakers will square off for a 1:00 p.m. first serve at the Hecht/Hamlin Tennis Center.
