PHILADELPHIA – Now just two-thirds of the way to claiming a championship treble (along with the Ivy Classic title), the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team brought home the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) regular-season championship for a third consecutive year, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Â
Posting a national qualifying score (NQS) of 195.450, the Quakers edged out Ivy foes Yale (194.685) and Brown (194.020) for the top spot after the regular-season slate concluded on Friday evening.
Â
Penn's final NQS score is the highest in program history, eclipsing a 195.100 in 2023 and a 194.875 in 2022, all three good enough to be named GEC regular-season champions.
Â
The program heads to New Haven, Conn. for the 2024 Gymnastics East Conference Championships, looking for a three-peat against the other seven teams. Penn will compete in the second session at 6 p.m. by virtue of being the regular-season champion. Both sessions Saturday will be streamed live on ESPN+.
