PHILADELPHIA – For the second straight week, a member of the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team has garnered a weekly honor, as sophomore
Skyelar Kerico was named Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Gymnast of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
This is Kerico's third GEC weekly award and second Gymnast of the Week honor of her career.
Â
Kerico rolled for Penn in a two-meet weekend, contributing to team scores of 194.550 and 193.750, respectively, at Friday's Towson Invite and Sunday's Alumni Meet at The Palestra.
Â
She set two new career-best scores in the all-around, debuting Friday with a 39.150 and then breaking it again with a 39.225 on Sunday, tied for the second-best all-around score in program history.
Â
In competition against GEC foes Bridgeport, Cornell and William & Mary, Kerico won three events—vault (9.825), uneven bars (9.850) and balance beam (9.775)—including two outright (bars and beam).
Â
The Quakers close out their short homestand Friday night against Temple at 6 p.m. The Senior Meet is set to be streamed live on ESPN+ and NBC Sports Philadelphia+ with live scoring provided via Virtius.
