PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team shaved 10 strokes off its team score from the first round to the second round at the Watersound Invitational, but the Quakers remain 12th in the field heading into Wednesday's final round.
The field for this week's tournament is arguably the strongest the Quakers have ever played against in tournament action. In looking at the Clippd national rankings, Penn is up against six of the nation's top 20 teams—Vanderbilt at No. 3, Virginia at No. 10, Alabama at No. 11, Georgia Tech at No. 12, Florida State at No. 13, Mississippi State at No. 18—and the only team in the field ranked lower than 77th is the Red and Blue (223).

After shooting 313 as a team on Monday, Penn came back to shoot 303 on Tuesday which left them at 40-over-par through two rounds. The third-ranked Commodores continue to lead the field, matching their first-round 278 on Tuesday to leave them at 20-under-par 556. Clemson is second at 563, while No. 10 Virginia matched Vandy's Tuesday score and is third at 564. Nine teams shot an under-par score on Tuesday, and nine teams are under par through two rounds.
Junior
Ben Scott continues to be Penn's low scorer through two rounds; he shot a 76 on Tuesday which left him at 5-over-par 149. Freshman
Max Fonseca carded a second-round 74 and is at 150 through two rounds, while
Jimin Jung had Penn's best round of the tournament so far—an even-par 72—to put him at 153 through Tuesday.
Hayden Adams (81) was Penn's other scorer on Tuesday, while
George Roessler carded an 84. Individually,
Steven Lee shot a 77 on Tuesday and is at 7-over-par 151 through two rounds.
Georgia Tech's Chris Lamprecht shot to the top of the individual leaderboard on Tuesday, firing a 7-under-par 65 that moved him up 14 spots and put him atop the board at 8-under-136. Three golfers are two strokes behind, at 6-under-par 138: Florida State's Gray Albright, and Vanderbilt duo Jackson Van Paris and Gordon Sargent.

Final-round action starts at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Watersound Club. Lee will tee off at 7:30 on the first hole. The lineup will start play on the 10th hole with tee times at 8:40 a.m. (Roessler), 8:50 (Adams), 9:00 (Jung), 9:10 (Fonseca), and 9:20 (Scott).
