PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team dropped the ECAC indoor Championship match 4-3, to Princeton on Sunday night.
The Quakers are 8-5 this season and are 5-2 at the Hecht Tennis Center.
Penn secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of
Parashar Bharadwaj and
Manfredi Graziani picked up the 6-2 win at No. 2, while
Matthew Rutter and Baylor secured the 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles play, The Quakers could not hold on to the 1-0 lead, dropping the next four matches. Graziani dropped his match in straight sets at No. 1, and moments later at No. 2,
Kian Vakili fell in straight sets giving Princeton the edge, 2-1.
At No. 3,
Aaron Sandler dropped his match in straight sets, and soon after the Tigers were able to secure the match with a win at No. 4.
Among matches that did not finish, Rutter was in the sixth game of the second set at No. 5 and
Luka Butera was in the fifth game of set two at No. 6.
Up Next
Penn will return to the Hecht Tennis Center with a doubleheader next Sunday. The Quakers will take on Penn State at noon and Hofstra at 4 p.m.
