PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis downed Dartmouth, 4-1, in the opening round of the ECAC indoor Championship on Friday afternoon.
The Quakers dropped the doubles point, as the Big Green took the wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
As for singles,
Aaron Sandler was the first finisher of the day who earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 to even the scoring, 1-1.
Minutes later,
Manfredi Graziani picked up the straight set victory, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 to give Penn the lead, 2-1. At No. 2,
Kian Vakili downed Henry Ren in straight sets to extend the lead for the Quakers.
Matthew Rutter secured the win for Penn with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5.
Among matches that did not finish,
Baylor Sai was in the ninth game of the second set at No. 4 and
Luka Butera was in the fifth game of the second game at No. 6.
Up Next
Penn will move on to the second round of the ECAC Championship tomorrow, battling Cornell. The match will begin at 3 p.m. from the Hecht Tennis Center.
