WBB Continues Home Stretch This Week; Hosts Brown (Fri) and Yale (Sat)

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team continues its home stretch with back-to-back games Friday and Saturday evening against Brown and Yale. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. Friday and 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

The Brown Series
  • Friday's game against Brown is the 92nd in program history, with the Quakers holding a 55-36 lead in the all-time series.
 
• Penn has been dominant at The Palestra against the Bears with a record of 32-16. 
 
• Penn is 9-1 in the last 10 match ups, averaging 73.8 points in those games. 
 
Last Time We Met
 • Penn fell to the Bears in the second game of the season series last year in Providence, 68-59.
   
 • Kayla Padilla led all scorers with 21 points, with 15 points coming from beyond the arc. She also had five rebounds and two assists. 
   
 • Floor Toonders posted a double-double, tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds while leading the Quakers with two blocks and two steals.

• Penn took care of business on the road, bringing a 72-58 back to University City and securing a spot in Ivy Madness. 
   
• Padilla led all scorers with 25 points (9-for-18), including five three-pointers, and had a team-high four assists. 
   
Jordan Obi recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. 
   
Simone Sawyer also scored in double-figures, netting 12 points on 50 percent shooting. 

• The Red and Blue shot 48.1 percent from the field (26-54) while shooting 50 percent from three (9-18). 

 
Penn's Last Time Out
• The Quakers dropped a 85-55 contest to Columbia last Saturday.
 
• Freshman Mataya Gayle led the Quakers with 21 points, her fourth 20-plus point performance of the year and her 12th game in double-digits. She also had three rebounds and a team-high four assists. The outing earned her Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, remaining the most by any freshman in the conference.
 
Stina Almqvist pulled in a team-high seven boards, with six coming off the offensive glass.
 
Stat Leaders
 • Penn has three Quakers that rank in the top seven in the Ivy League in scoring: Almqvist in fourth (15.5), Gayle in fifth (15.1), and Obi in seventh (13.9).
   
  • Obi leads Penn and is tied for second in the Ivy League in blocks with 25 points. She also leads Penn in rebounding at 7.6 boards per game, good enough for third in the league. 
 
 • Outside of her other scoring rankings, Gayle is ninth in the league in steals (1.6).
