Penn track and field women head into the 2024-25 indoor season as defending Ivy league champions following their seventh team title in program history. The men's team finished third with five individual champions, the most individual men at Penn to win gold since 1998.

The Quakers return six indoor conference champions from 2024 to their lineup this season. Leading the women's team will be eight-time Ivy indoor champion Moforehan Abinusawa.

In 2024, Abinusawa broke the Ivy record in the 60m at the Heptagonal Championships with a time of 7.25. She claimed gold in the 200m with a program record time of 23.52 and was a part of the women's 4x440y relay team that broke the meet record (3:35.73) in Cambridge, Mass. last year.

Relay teammates Christiana Nwachuku and Jocelyn Niemiec will be making their way back onto the track this season. Nwachuku stepped on the podium three times during the indoor season claiming gold in the 4x440y, silver in the 60m (7.42), and bronze in the 200m (23.97). Niemiec placed second in the 500m (1:12.46). The women's 4x400m relay team finished ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

On the men's team, indoor league champions Ryan MatulonisShane Gardner, and Kampton Kam will start moving back indoors for the upcoming season.

During his rookie season, Matulonis broke the Ivy record finishing first with a time of 1:01.22 in the 500m at the Ivy Heptagonal Indoor Championships. He recently finished 20th in the 400m hurdles at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Gardner broke the program record in the 60m hurdles clocking in first at the Ivy Heptagonal Championships with a time of 7.83.

High Jumper Kampton Kam cleared 2.18m (7' 1.75") at the league championships to claim his first gold medal as a Quaker. Kam was the only athlete to jump clean through 2.15m (7' 0.5").

About the Ott Center
The 73,000-square foot facility on River Fields Drive is connected to the Hollenback Center, adjacent to the Schuylkill River and south of Penn Park. Designed to be filled with natural light, the new building features large, clear story windows which face the Schuylkill River and align with the multi-story windows on the flanks of Hollenback, which was originally the campus powerplant.

The facility is designed to honor Penn's long tradition of excellence in track and field and will enhance and provide support to the Penn Relays – the oldest and largest track and field event in the country.

The facility contains a banked 200 meter running track designed around specific geometric relationships between the straight and curved track sections to produce optimal conditions for running events, two long jump/triple jump runways, two pole vault runways, an eight-lane infield for sprints, hurdles and high jump, and a throwing area for the shot put and weight throw. With spectator seating of more than 1,000, the Ott Center will be able to host a series of exciting youth, high school and college events for years to come.
