Charlottesville, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team won its consolation match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, downing Northern Arizona 4-1, Sunday Morning.

The Quakers picked up their first win in doubles, when the duo of No. 56 Kian Vakili and Aaron Sandler defeated Maciej Ziomber and Dani Torres. The Lumberjacks took the next doubles match at the No. 3 slot, but Manfredi Graziani and Zachery Lim secured the doubles point at No.1 after taking down Dominik Buzonics and Jakub Prachar.

In singles action, Northern Arizona's Dani Torres knocked off Kian Vakili at No. 2 to even the match at one a piece. Baylor Sai picked up the first singles win for the Quakers, with a straight set victory at the No. 4 spot.

Freshman Luka Butera made his spring debut, where he earned a straight set win at the No.6 spot. At the No. 3 spot Sandler clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Among matches that did not finish, Graziani was in the fifth game of the third set at No. 1 and Matthew Rutter was in the seventh game of the second set at No 5.

The Quakers will be back in action next weekend, on the road once again. Penn will take on Virginia Commonwealth on Friday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. and Old Dominion on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. in Norfolk.
