Knoxville, Tenn. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team dropped the opening match of the spring season to #6 Tennessee, 7-0, on Saturday morning.
The Quakers dropped the doubles point with the Vols winning at No. 1 and No. 3. The No. 2 match featured #56
Kian Vakili and
Aaron Sandler who defeated Angel Diaz and Chris Li to earn the lone victory for Penn throughout the day.
In singles action, Tennessee grabbed a 3-0 lead with straight-set wins at No. 3 and No 1. Filip Pieczonka then secured the victory for the Vols after picking up the straight-set win at No. 5 against
Parashar Bharadwaj.
Sandler was able to conclude his match against Younes Lalami, where Lalami grabbed another straight-set victory for the Vols. To close out matches that were completed, Filip Apltauer defeated
Matthew Rutter in straight sets.
Among the matches that did not finish,
Baylor Sai was four games into the second set of his match at No. 4.
