HAMILTON, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team opened the 2023-24 season with a sixth-place finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial over the weekend. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Colgate on the par-72 Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Penn shot 294 in both of Saturday's rounds, then followed that up with a 302 on Sunday to end the weekend at 26-over-par 890. Yale was the team champion, the Bulldogs carding a startling, 11-under-par 853 to easily beat the 12-team field. The other Ivy team in the field, Cornell, finished at 34-over-par 898 and placed ninth.
Individually, senior
Jimin Jung led the Quakers on the weekend. He carded a 3-under-par 69 in Saturday's first round and followed that up with a 1-under-par round in the afternoon, ending the first day at 4-under-par 140. The senior then carded a 76 on Sunday to end the tournament at even-par 216. That left him tied for sixth in the field of 80 golfers who finished the weekend.
In his collegiate debut, freshman
Hayden Adams shot an even-par 72 and ended Saturday at 1-over-par 145. He shot 77 on Sunday and ended the weekend tied for 19th at 6-over-par 222. Junior
George Roessler had Penn's low score on Sunday, a 74, and ended the weekend tied for 28th at 226, while classmate
John Richardson had the Quakers' second-best Sunday score in finishing the weekend at 228.
Steven Lee carded 230 for the weekend, while
Henry Krieble withdrew after Saturday's first round.
A pair of Yale players tied for medalist honors, Blake Brantley and Will Lodge both shooting 6-under-par 210 for the weekend which had them a stroke ahead of Villanova's Peter Weaver and two up on Lehigh's Edmund Broderick.
