COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Last week, USA Field Hockey and Team USA announced the 2023-24 US Women's National Indoor Team, and with no surprise, incoming freshman of the University of Pennsylvania field hockey team Sydney Mandato earned a spot.
 
Mandato, graduating from Gwynedd Mercy Academy, has plenty of experience on Team USA. This past indoor season, she represented our country at the 2023 FIH Indoor World Cup in South Africa. She is joined on the roster by 13 other athletes that made the South Africa trip, where the young indoor team held the event's finalists to a one-goal difference (The Netherlands, 3-2; Austria, 2-1).
 
The team has the next year and a half to prepare for the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup, held next March in Calgary, Canada where they look to again qualify for the FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup.
 
Based on their results at the IHWC, the team moved up four places in the FIH Indoor World Rankings and are now ranked eighth in the world.
