PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team took the doubles point from #10 Harvard Saturday afternoon, but eventually fell, 4-2, to the Crimson from Hamlin Tennis Center.
After dropping the first doubles match of the day,
Edoardo Graziani and
Kevin Zhu picked up a 7-5 win at No. 1, and the
Zachery Lim/
Harsh Parikh pair took a close tiebreak, 7-5, to put Penn up 1-0.
In the only two straight-set singles matches of the day, Harvard grabbed a 2-1 lead, then tacked on a third point in the first three-set match to go final, putting them on the verge of the win.
Zhu kept the Quakers alive, rallying back after dropping the first set with a tiebreak win in the second, before a dominant 6-2 win in the third. With (Manfredi) Graziani one game away from taking his match and leveling things at 3-all, Harvard picked up the deciding point at No. 4, with Graziani's match being halted at that point.
