HANOVER, N.H. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team took the doubles point to open Saturday night's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championship Semifinal match with #19 Columbia, but fell short in singles play, dropping a 4-1 affair.
One day after dropping the doubles point, then winning the first four singles matches against Yale, Penn took the opening point Saturday after the #2 doubles team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings,
Edoardo Graziani and
Kevin Zhu, and the
Manfredi Graziani/
Aditya Gupta duo both won their matches, the Graziani/Gupta team taking the deciding match with things knotted 1-1.
Continuing the trend of Saturday being a 180 of Friday's results, it was Columbia who seized control, and eventually victory, taking the first four singles matches. The Graziani brothers, Gupta, and
Baylor Sai all dropped their matches, while Zhu and
Harsh Parikh had theirs halted upon Columbia's clinching victory.
