PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania football team had two representatives—senior offensive lineman Jake Ligos and senior defensive lineman Joey Slackman—on the All-ECAC offense and defense teams, announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
 
Ligos capped his final season with the Quakers by starting in all 10 games on the offensive line and earning first-team All-Ivy honors. He helped the offense average 286.1 yards per game, ranking second in the Ivy League and eighth in NCAA FCS football, while allowing just 1.2 sacks per game. Ligos assisted in blocking for rookie running back Malachi Hosley, who totaled 723 yards on the ground with seven touchdowns.
 
Slackman put together one of the most decorated seasons by a defensive player in program history, becoming the Quakers' first Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year recipient since 2015 and the 10th to win the Bushnell Cup. He earned third-team All-America from Phil Steele and was a first-team All-Ivy pick. Slackman was also tabbed the program's Academic All-Ivy representative. In starting nine games for Penn this season, Slackman led the defense with 12.0 TFLs, which ranked second in the Ancient Eight. He also totaled four sacks, four hurries, a pass breakup and a blocked field goal. Slackman finished the year with 50 total tackles on 23 solo stops.
 
The Quakers went 6-4 overall in 2023 after one of the most challenging Ivy slates in recent memory. Penn tied for fifth place with Brown with a 3-4 conference record.
