NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team competed in the Yale Invitational over the weekend. The three-day event was played in a tournament-style format, with singles and doubles competitions, and featured Cornell, Columbia, NJIT Dartmouth, Brown, Boston University, and the host Bulldogs.
 
Matthew Rutter, Manfredi Graziani, and Tal Goodman each picked up a pair of singles victories throughout the weekend to finish the invitational with a 2-1 singles records.
 
Rutter rolled through his sets against Logan Chang (Dartmouth) 6-0, 6-4 on Friday and edged out Brown's Alex Koong 6-2, 6-0. Graziani won his match against Columbia's Theo Winegar 7-5, 6-3 on Friday and defeated Vignesh Gogineni (Yale) 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on Saturday. Goodman recorded a comeback win on Saturday, overcoming Brown's Zander Bravo in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The junior kept his streak going on Sunday, winning his match against Chang (Dartmouth) 6-1, 6-1.
 
The duos of Graziani and Luka Butera and Rutter and Goodman each achieved doubles wins on Saturday. Graziani and Butera topped Dartmouth's Carlos Alvarez and Logan Chang 6-4, while Rutter and Goodman shut out Brown's Alex Koong and Brian Chong 6-0 to account for Penn's doubles victories.
 
This concludes the fall portion for the Quakers, as Penn will gear up toward the spring season.
