SERIES HISTORY
Friday's matchup is the 46th between the two programs, as the Crimson hold a 27-16-2 lead over the Quakers. The two teams have already met once this season in late October with Harvard winning in a narrow victory, 2-0, on its home turf. Penn has a 7-16-1 record playing in Cambridge, but this will be the first meeting in the postseason.
Â
LAST TIME WE MET
The Quakers battled at then-No. 11 Harvard back on October 21, dropping a 2-0 decision. Penn, who at that time already booked its trip to the Ivy tournament, fired off three shots in the game from the sticks of
Julia Ryan,
Allison Kuzyk and
Honor Roberts. Back in the cage,
Frederique Wollaert stood strong for 60 minutes with 10 saves, the third time in the season with double-digit turn aways. The other two times were at No. 3 Northwestern and against No. 13 Saint Joseph's.
Â
PENN'S LAST TIME OUT
In their final two games of the regular season, the Quakers split over the weekend after battling past Brown on Senior Day at Ellen Vagelos Field, 2-1, then falling in a back-and-forth affair at Delaware on Sunday, 4-3. Kuzyk enjoyed a successful weekend, finding the back of the net four times, two in each game, including the game winner against the Bears. She leads the team and ranks second in the Ivy League this season in goals with 13, and second in game winners with four. On Sunday, sophomore
Livia Loozen joined the scoring on the initial Quaker finish, while freshman
Sydney Mandato notched her first two collegiate points, sending out a pair of assists against the Blue Hens. Between the two games, Wollaert totaled nine saves, bringing her to 91 for the season.
Â
STAT LEADERS
Kuzyk leads the Quakers in goals with 13 through 16 games. She also leads the team in points (27), shots (66) and shots on goal (39). Junior
Courtney Kenah has been efficient in finding her teammates with a team-high eight assists. Kuzyk's goals are good for second in the Ivy League, while Kenah's eight helpers are currently in the fifth spot among all players. Wollaert has 91 saves this season with a goals-against average of 1.88 and a .746 save percentage, ranking among the top three in the league.
Â
POSTSEASON HONORS
On Wednesday, the Ivy League announced postseason awards ahead of the tournament, naming seven Quakers to All-Ivy teams, the second most by a school in the conference. Kuzyk and Wollaert garnered first-team honors, Ryan and Sophie Davis earned spots on second team, and
Kylie Wall,
Lis Zandbergen, and Kenah made their way onto honorable mention.
