BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams made the trek back up the Lehigh Valley on Friday afternoon for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted on the Goodman campus course at Lehigh University.
Â
The women secured a third-place team finish with 104 points, tying for the best team finish at regionals in program history and the best finish on the Lehigh course. The men took eighth place as a team with 255 points.
Â
Olivia Morganti paced the Quakers in the women's event, taking fifth place on a program-record regional time and career mark of 19:50.2. She was closely followed in by
Maeve Stiles, who finished eighth on a career-best time of 19:57.1. Both sub-20 6K times are the top two times in program history at the NCAA regional.
Â
Morganti earned an automatic berth to the NCAA championships with her finish, the first of her collegiate career, while Stiles will move into an at-large pool with hopes of still qualifying for nationals for the second straight season.
Â
The two were joined on the All-Region team by
Lily Murphy, as the sophomore clocked a career-best 20:24.1 to take 20th.
Â
For the men,
Sahil Dodda led the field for a 22nd-place finish on the 10K course with a time of 30:07.7, a personal-best mark that was good enough to land him a spot on All-Region for the first time in his collegiate career.
