BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams competed in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park, as both squads finished fifth. The women tallied 99 points, while the men registered 108.
Â
The Quakers secured three first-team All-Ivy nods in the two races. On the women's side,
Maeve Stiles cruised to her second first-team accolade, taking fourth on the 6K course with a time of 20:47.6 to lead Penn. She was closely followed in by
Olivia Morganti in sixth place, crossing the finish line at 20:53.3 for a first-team honor.
Â
For the men,
Dylan Throop led the race for nearly the first 4K, then stormed back after 6K to reclaim the lead. However, he was edged out by less than eight seconds for the title, earning an impressive second-place finish on the 8K course with a time of 23:55.2. His efforts earned him first-team honors.
Â
Penn had three others make second-team appearances, as
Lily Murphy took 11th for the women with a time of 21:18.2, while
Luke Johnson (24:28.9) and
Sahil Dodda finished 12th and 13th, respectively, for the men.
Â
The Quakers will now turn their attention to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in two weeks at Lehigh University, a course Penn has competed on twice already this season. The event is set for Friday, November 10 with the first race set for noon.
