Dingle Sweeps Ivy, Big 5 POTW Honors For Third Time in 2022-23

PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League and Philadelphia Big 5 have announced their weekly award winners in men's basketball, and for the third time this season University of Pennsylvania junior guard Jordan Dingle swept both Player of the Week honors.

This is Dingle's fourth time earning Ivy League Player of the Week honors already this season, tied for the second-most in a season in program history along with Ibrahim Jaaber in 2005-06. He has been Big 5 Player of the Week three times.

Dingle was simply spectacular in Saturday's 84-55 win at Columbia, scoring 33 points in just 30 minutes (he was taken out of the game with more than eight minutes remaining). The junior shot 11-of-17 from the field, including a staggering 7-of-9 on three-point shots, and was 4-of-5 at the foul line. It was Dingle's third 30-point game this season and his ninth at Penn, second-most by a Quakers player behind only Ernie Beck who had 13 such games from 1951-53. Dingle's sublime Saturday night came on the heels of his 21-point performance at Cornell on Friday night, which led all scorers in the contest.

Dingle enters the week averaging 24.2 points per game, good for second nationally behind only Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis (25.0). Dingle has scored 20 or more points in 13 straight games—the longest streak by a Penn player since Beck began the 1952-53 season with 16 such games—and his double-figure scoring streak is at 24, tied with Zack Rosen for the seventh-longest streak in program history.

Penn (9-8, 2-1 Ivy League) concludes its four-game road trip to start the Ivy League season on Saturday, heading to Dartmouth to face the Big Green at 2 p.m. Following that, the Quakers are finally at home on Monday when they host travel partner and archrival Princeton at 7 p.m.
