PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's swimming and diving team made a grand return to Sheerr Pool Friday evening, getting the 176-120 victory over West Chester to start the weekend off on a high note.
The Quakers (4-4, 2-4 Ivy) racked up seven first-place finishes with two podium sweeps against the Golden Rams (5-3) as
Anna Kalandadze led the way with a pair of victories in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley.

*Kalandadze once again excelled in her events with a 1:53.68 in the 200 free. Also in that event,
Bridget O'Leary in second position (1:54.49). Kalandadze also tallied a win in the 400 IM (4:26.68) where she narrowly beat out teammate
Anna Boeckman (4:27.50) and
Ellen Holmquist (4:31.33).

Amelia Girotto looked the part in the first individual event of the evening with a victory in the 1000 free with a time of 10:08.83. Boeckman took third at 10:23.30.

Vanessa Chong won her race in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.31. It was neck-and-neck between Chong and
Amber Smith, who clocked in at 58.81 to finish second.

Izzy Pytel returned to action Friday with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.25). It was a close call between first, second and third as
Hannah Liu got third with a time of 1:06.97.
*The second 1-2-3 finish went the way of
Sydney Bergstrom in the 500 free where she timed in at 5:01.93 to beat O'Leary (5:07.09) for second and
Lyndsey Reeve (5:09.38) for third.

Joy Jiang (second) and
Emma Stolberg (third) both landed on the podium for the 200-yard butterfly.

Margot Kaczorowski earned back-to-back runner-up finishes in the 50 free (24.06) and 100 free (51.63).
Abby Wickersham got third in both events as well with times of 24.21 and 51.84, respectively.
*The 200-yard backstroke had
Sophie Henriksen get second with a 2:09.55 and
Hadley DeBruyn at third (2:10.64).
*Liu got second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.39).
*Chong picked up second in the 100 fly (55.98) with Smith finishing in third (57.51).
*It was a second and third-place finish for the 200-yard medley relay as Smith, Pytel, Chong and Kaczorowski timed in at 1:46.20 and Henriksen,
Rachel Blackwell, Reeve and Wickersham swam a 1:48.80.
*The night ended with a Quaker victory in the 200 free relay as the tandem of Wickersham, Smith,
Anna Moehn and Kaczorowski placed first (1:35.33).
