PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior defensive lineman
Jake Heimlicher was named Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the Ivy League Monday afternoon.
Heimlicher headed up a Penn defense that shut out Lafayette, 12-0, on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field. He totaled 10 tackles with a sack (his third of 2022) and three tackles for a loss.
Through the first two games of the season, Heimlicher leads the Quakers in solo tackles (9), total tackles (15), tackles for a loss (5), sacks (3) and forced fumbles (1).
An honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 2021, this is the first weekly award of Heimlicher's Penn career.
Penn begins Ivy League play on Friday night, taking on Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will air nationally on ESPNU.
