How It Happened
The Quakers were able to manage the elements well on a rainy afternoon at Rhodes Field. From long before the opening whistle to just about the final 15 minutes of play there was non-stop rain.
Penn turned on the pressure early as it recorded seven shots in the first 21 minutes, forcing the SBU keeper to make a trio of saves. In that same span, the Seawolves only tallied one shot, which went wide.
Gladu made her only save on the half-hour mark as she collected a headed ball and sent Penn back on the attack.
Teuschl and Glass both had great chances to score on back-to-back shots in the box, but the Stony Brook keeper made a pair of great saves to keep the match scoreless in the 34th minute.
After peppering the Seawolves keeper for 35 unsuccessful minutes, Lawton broke the scoreless tie with a shot to the top left of the goal from the top of the box. This goal looked very similar to her first goal of the season against Maryland.
For the first time this season, Penn had a multi-goal lead as Teuschl's second goal of the season came just 2:01 after Lawton's goal. Teuschl collected the ricocheted ball off the diving keeper for the score.
Penn was not done scoring as three minutes later, Glass tallied her first goal of the season. Teuschl sent a ball across the front of the box to Glass who slotted the ball past the diving keeper. This marked Penn's first three-goal match of the 2022 season.
