How It Happened
The Quakers opened the match applying pressure on the Gaels defense as they maintained possession for most of the opening 10 minutes. However, Saint Mary's played a long ball that slipped past the Penn defense and allowed Nayeli Diaz to slot one past a diving
Laurence Gladu in the 10th minute.
Lawton had the Quakers' first shot of the match. She played a ball over the defense, but SMC keeper Taylor Poland corralled the effort to keep it 1-0 in favor of the home squad.
For the first time this season, the Red and Blue trailed at the half.
The Gaels recorded the first two shots of the second half, Gladu stopping the first and a Penn defender blocking the second.
Kenton fired off a shot from outside the box but right at the SMC keeper. However, on the hour mark, Lawton played a deep ball into the box to
Sara Readinger, who flipped it back to Glass to draw Penn level.
Both teams had their fair share of attacks after that, but the Gaels led the second half with six shots to just a pair by Penn.
