The Series with Temple
Friday's meeting between the Quakers and the Owls will be the 15th in series history. Penn holds an 8-5-1 record in the overall series. Last season the two teams played to a 1-1 draw on North Broad. Since 2012, the Quakers are 3-0-1 against the Owls with all three victories coming in University City.
About Temple
Temple has opened the 2022 season at 0-1-1. In their season opener against Penn's Sunday opponent, Maryland, the Owls took a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute off the foot of senior forward Emily Kavanaugh. The lead would not last long as the Terps put home the equalizer in the 66th minute. The two teams would experience the new no-overtime rule, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Temple then suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, falling 2-0 at Binghamton. Despite the loss, Temple led in every offensive category: shots (17-10), shots on goal (8-6), and corner kicks (4-1).
The Series with Maryland
Sunday's meeting between the Quakers and the Terps will be the fifth match in series history. Penn trails the series, 1-2-1. Last season the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. The Quakers lone victory of the series came in 1999 as the Red and Blue earned a 2-1 victory in College Park.
About Maryland
Maryland has opened the 2022 season at 0-0-1. In their season opener, the Terps rallied back as Alina Stahl fired home an equalizer nearly three minutes following Temple's goal in the 64th minute to end a 0-0 score. Prior to its trip to Philly, Maryland will take on Navy in Annapolis on Thursday.
