PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team earned its first win of the 2026 season on Thursday night, defeating George Washington, 3-1, at Rhodes Field.
The Quakers (1-1-1) controlled the match offensively, outshooting the Revolutionaries (1-2-2), 13-8, and putting eight shots on goal. Abbey Cook, Mia Fuss and Casey Forman each found the back of the net for Penn, while goalkeeper Megan Graves made two saves.

*Forman recorded a goal and an assist, while Magali Capdevila tallied her first assist of the season.
*Goalkeeper Graves played all 90 minutes and made two saves.
How it happened
George Washington created an early opportunity in the eighth minute after a Penn giveaway, but Graves made the save to keep the Revolutionaries off the scoreboard. GW then hit the crossbar as the Quakers survived the early pressure.
Penn responded with a chance of its own immediately after when Cook found Hailey Adamsky with a short centering pass in the box, but GW goalkeeper Jasmine Black turned away Adamsky's attempt.
The Quakers began to take control of the match offensively as the half progressed, earning a corner kick in the 18th minute and continuing to apply pressure in the attacking third.
Penn broke through in the 19th minute when Forman's shot was deflected by Cook and found the back of the cage giving the Quakers their first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

The Quakers carried the one-goal advantage into halftime, holding GW to just one shot on goal through the opening frame.
Penn doubled its lead early out of the locker room. After the Quakers cleared a George Washington corner, Lily White carried the ball up the near sideline before playing it ahead to Fuss. Fuss got behind the GW defense, juked a defender and finished with her left foot to make it 2-0.
The Quakers continued to control the offensive action, earning four corner kicks and putting four second-half shots on goal.
Penn added a third goal in the 84th minute. Forman received a pass, drove into the box and drilled a shot past Black, extending the Quakers' advantage to 3-0.
George Washington answered just 51 seconds later with Isabelle Ohlmann scoring off an assist from Ella Provost-Heron to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Revolutionaries looked for a late chance, but Graves and the Penn defense held on to secure the Quakers' first win of the season.
The Red and Blue return to action Sunday at 1: p.m. when they travel to Stony Brook.
