PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team continues its 2026 campaign with a pair of tests this week, looking for its first win of the season when it hosts George Washington on Thursday, Aug. 27, at Rhodes Field before traveling to Stony Brook on Sunday, Aug. 30.

Penn vs. George Washington Series
*The Quakers and the Revolutionaries have met just once before, with Penn earning a 4-0 shutout victory at Rhodes Field in 2021.
*Mia Shenk '21 led the way offensively, recording the 15th hat trick in program history and the first since Clara Midgley in 2011. Shenk's goals came just 33 seconds apart, marking the second-shortest span between goals in program history. Only Ayla Gustafson, who scored twice just 25 seconds apart against Lehigh in 2000, has accomplished the feat quicker.
Penn vs. Stony Brook Series
*The Quakers are undefeated all-time against the Seawolves, holding a 3-0 advantage in the series.
*The last time the two programs met, Penn recorded a 3-0 victory at Rhodes Field.
*Prior to that meeting, both teams had not faced one another since the 2000 season.
*All three meetings in series history have resulted in 3-0 Penn victories.

*The Quakers return a bulk of their starting lineup, with

Avery Chapel,
Magali Capdevila,
Kylie Emanuel,
Eden Veenema, and
Lily White providing plenty of experience heading into the 2026 season.
*Cook returns after earning First-Team All-Ivy honors last season. The senior recorded career highs in goals (six), points (13), and shots on goal (13), all of which led the Quakers. Cook was one of just four players to start in all 15 matches, scoring in three consecutive Ivy League contests against Columbia (Oct. 12), Cornell (Oct. 18), and Harvard (Oct. 25).
*In addition to last year's returners, the Red and Blue welcome a class of 11 freshmen: Josephine Hensley, Ria Desai, Emily Burnham, Camarin Choi, Lane Flanagan, Marley Murdock, Alisa Ziletkina, Grace Saxton, Marijke Terhorst, Harper Goergen, and Isabelle Rudnick. Penn also welcomes new assistant coach Kamryn Stablein.
*Penn is still in search of its first win of the season after falling to George Mason on the road and earning a draw at home against FDU last week.
*Despite being held scoreless, the Quakers controlled the run of play against the Knights on Sunday, holding an 11-5 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
*Penn has outshot its opponents, 16-15, through the first two games of the season.
*The Quakers have earned eight corner kicks compared to five for their opponents.
*Megan Graves has made six saves through two games while allowing just one goal.

Scouting the Revolutionaries
*George Washington enters Thursday's matchup at 1-1-2 on the season. The Revolutionaries opened the season with a victory over Temple in Washington, D.C. GW then fell to Delaware, 3-2, before battling Howard and Towson to 0-0 and 2-2 draws, respectively.
*The Revolutionaries enter Thursday's matchup with an 8-5 scoring advantage through four contests and have placed nearly 59 percent of their shots on target.
*GW has earned 32 corner kicks through four matches.
*The Revolutionaries feature a balanced attack, with four players already recording at least four points.
*Kalia Kau is tied for the team lead with two goals and leads the squad with six shots on goal.
*Julia Bilal also has two goals, coming on just four shots.
*Naomi Kim paces the squad with two assists and has been involved in three of the team's eight goals.
*The Revolutionaries finished last season at 5-9-4 and failed to qualify for the A-10 playoffs with a 2-7-1 conference record. GW has no returning all-conference selections from last season but brings back 16 letterwinners. Kau led all returners with eight points last season.
*The Quakers will likely face Jasmine Black in net Thursday. The sophomore has played every minute in goal and boasts a 1.25 goals-against average, 15 total saves, and one shutout.
Scouting the Seawolves
*Stony Brook brings an unbeaten record into Sunday's contest. The Seawolves opened the season with a 2-2 draw against UConn before earning back-to-back wins against New Haven (5-0) and Harvard (2-1).
*Stony Brook takes on FDU on Thursday after the Knights battled Penn to a 0-0 draw on Aug. 23.
*The Seawolves are averaging three goals per game while attempting 15 shots per contest.
*Stony Brook is converting on 20 percent of its shots, compared to just six percent for its opponents.
*Despite their unbeaten record, opponents are outshooting the Seawolves, 50-45, and also hold the advantage in shots on goal, 24-22.
*Sophomore Emily Lemke was recently named CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Lemke leads the CAA through the first two weeks of action with four goals and eight points. The forward posted a hat trick in the team's win over Harvard and has accounted for four of the squad's nine goals.
*Five additional Seawolves have found the back of the net this season.
