Lightweights Finish Up Racing at EARC Sprints

WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania men's lightweight crew completed racing at the EARC Sprints on Sunday, the Quakers running two Eights on the day.

Varsity Eight
Penn won the Petite Final on Sunday, clocking 6:08.037 across Lake Quinsigamond's 2,000-meter course to best Harvard (6:10.367) and Dartmouth (6:15.037).
 
The Quakers were unable to make the Grand Final after finishing fourth in their morning heat. Penn clocked 6:06.307 in the four-boat race and finished behind race winner Navy, second-place Princeton, and third-place Cornell.
 
Second Varsity Eight
Penn finished second in the three-boat Petite Final in this division, clocking 6:17.350 which had them behind Harvard (6:15.183) but well ahead of Dartmouth (6:28.819).
 
In the morning heats, Penn finished fourth in a five-boat race and was unable to earn a spot in the Grand Final. Navy won the race, followed by Cornell and Princeton. The Quakers covered the course in 6:15.546 and finished ahead of the Big Green.
 
Up Next
Penn now points toward the IRA National Championships, which will take place in nearby West Windsor, N.J., from June 3-5.
