Baseball Falls to Rutgers in Midweek Mid-Atlantic Showdown, 8-4

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to Rutgers University, 8-4 in Piscataway, N.J. Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rutgers (27-6) scored twice in the second, then added four in the third to open a 6-0 lead.

Wyatt Henseler got Penn (19-9) on the board with a solo shot in the fourth. An RBI single from Tommy Courtney and two-run double from Jackson Appel cut the deficit to 6-4 in the fifth.

Penn put men on in the sixth and seventh innings, but hit into inning-ending double plays in each frame.

After Penn held Rutgers without a run for more than three innings, Rutgers tacked on two more runs in the seventh, the final runs of the game for either side.
