Gymnastics Hosts Cornell on Sunday as Part of Rumble & Tumble at The Palestra

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team is teaming up with the wrestling team host the annual Rumble & Tumble on Sunday afternoon. Both squads of Quakers will battle Cornell simultaneously at The Palestra.
 
The Red and Blue have posted total scores of 194.425 or better in each of their last three meets and are looking to build on the momentum.

*Last time out, Penn defeated visiting Yale, 194.425 - 194.200, in Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) action at The Palestra. The Quakers posted their best score at home in program history, topping the previous mark of 194.400 set back in 2012 at the ECAC Championships.
 
*Against the Bulldogs, Sara Kenefick won the all-around title with a total score of 38.975. Rose DeBarberie and Isabel Song tied for the highest score on the day in the vault (9.825) while McCaleigh Marr tied a pair of Bulldogs for the top score on the beam (9.825).
 
*Following her strong performance against Yale, Sara Kenefick was named the GEC Gymnast of the Week on Wednesday. It marks the fourth straight week in which a Quaker has brought home GEC honors as Kenefick picks up her second weekly accolade after being tabbed as the GEC Gymnast of the Week back on January 19.
 
*Last weekend, Kenefick brought home her first career all-around title. Competing for the first time this season in the vault she posted a score of 9.8. She also scored a 9.825 on the floor and a 9.75 mark on the beam. Her score on the floor was tied for tops in the meet. She registered a score of 9.6 on the bars.
 
*Penn won the Lindsey Ferris Invitational at George Washington on January 16, posting the second-highest team score in program history (194.925) to edge out the host Colonials (194.250). William & Mary (189.950) finished third and Cornell (188.825) came in fourth.
 
*At the Lindsey Ferris Invitational, the team tied a program record with a vault score of 48.775. Penn also had a pair of student-athletes post the best score in an event on the day as Kristen Kuhn had the highest mark in the uneven bars (9.875) and Natalie Yang's 9.875 score was tops on the balance beam.

*In four meets this season, Penn has posted scores of 191.300, 194.925, 194.875 and 194.425.
 
*Cornell has registered team scores of 188.825, 191.900 and 191.400 in 2022.
 
*Penn was picked as the GEC preseason favorite in a preseason poll released in December of 2021. The Red and Blue received four of a possible eight first-place votes.
