LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania track and field programs completed day one of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Friday evening at Liberty University, headlined by a top finish by
Mayyi Mahama and three movements in the record books.

On the women's side, Mahama collected the victory for the day in the weight throw, landing at 19.84m on her fourth attempt.

The women also had some record book performances as well. In the 3,000m,
Maeve Stiles clocked a time of 9:32.16 to finish fourth, good enough for sixth in program history. At the pole vault,
Abby Norwillo and
Meghan Hart both cleared 3.85m. Norwillo sits higher in the record book with a 3.91m clearance in 2019, but Hart's 3.85m on Friday shifts her to fourth in program history.

The Quakers posted a handful of top 10 performances, including
Shevell Higgs clocking a time of 8.76 for third in the 60m hurdles preliminaries. Her semifinal qualifying time set a new PR for her but holds her at ninth in program history.

At the 400m,
Caia Gelli tied her personal best mark set last week with a time of 55.55 for fourth, while
Jocelyn Niemiec earned fifth with a time of 56.58. Back on the field,
Victoria Agyin took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.59m.

On the men's side, the record book was hit by
Weston Wendt in the 60m. He started out in the preliminaries, qualifying for the semifinals with a time of 7.02 for third. In the semis, he bested that time with a 6.93 for 10th, a time good enough for eighth in program history.

There was also a handful of top 10 finishes by four other Quakers. In the 60m hurdles semifinals,
Enoch Cheung took sixth with a time of 8.13 to qualify for tomorrow's finals, while
Jared Elters earned ninth with a time of 8.30 to just miss the cut by less than a half a second. In the 400m,
Antaures Jackson clocked a time of 48.94 for ninth, and
Scott Dochat rounded out the performances with 10th in the weight throw with a distance of 17.93m.

The Quakers are back in action on Saturday for the final day of the meet, set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
