PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams hit the road this weekend, making the trip south to Charlottesville for the Virginia XC23 Invitational on Saturday.

About XC23 Invitational
The University of Virginia plays host to the XC23 Invitational on Saturday at Panorama Farms, an 8K/5K course that will host major competitions in 2022 and 2023, including the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The men's race will have 17 teams in attendance, while the women's race will have 18.
 
Who Is Competing For The Quakers
The women will be represented by: Olivia Babski, Lizzy Bader, Kyra Compton, Chloe Hassman, Olivia Morganti, Lily Murphy, Bronwyn Patterson, Katie Pou, Maeve Stiles, and Phoebe White.
 
The me will be represented by: Zubeir Dagane, Sahil Dodda, Dennis Fortuna, Anton Idhammar, Justin Iler, Luke Johnson, Michael Keehan, Edwin Klanke, Will Shaughnessy, and Oliver Stewart.
 
Penn's Last Time Out
Junior Maeve Stiles dazzled again on the course, taking 15th overall at the 48th annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University two weeks ago. Her efforts on the 6K course with a career-best time of 19:57.3 guided the women's cross country team to an 18th-place finish out of 46 teams with 533 points. Senior captain Lizzy Bader was the second Quaker to cross the line in 80th with another career mark of 20:41.1. Penn's scoring was wrapped up by Lily Murphy (21:01.3), Bronwyn Patterson (21:19.7), and Phoebe White (21:23.6). In the open 6K race, Chloe Hassman earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 21:52.3.
 
The men's team also competed at the Paul Short Invitational, taking 14th out of 46 teams for 426 points. Leading the way was Dylan Throop with a career 8K time of 23:40.7 for 52nd place, while senior captain Michael Keehan was close behind for 70th with a time of 23:48.3, also a career-best mark. Zubeir Dagane (23:54.4), Luke Johnson (23:56.9), and Edwin Klanke (24:22.1) wrapped up the Quaker scorers for the event. In the open race, freshman Dennis Fortuna paced a crowd of five Quakers, taking 54th with a time of 24:59.0.
