EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman
Isabella Whittaker set the bar high in her first collegiate season with the University of Pennsylvania track & field program, which concluded when she ran the 400 on Thursday evening at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon. By competing at the NCAA Championships, she earned All-America Honorable Mention.
Running in the second of three heats, Whittaker posted a time of 53.42 seconds and was unable to advance to the final.
Her season concludes with program records in the 200 (23.62 seconds) and the 400 (51.92), and she became just the third female runner in the history of the Ivy League to run the 400 in a sub-52 time.
Whittaker did not drop a single event in the 200 and 400 during the regular season, totaling six first-place finishes. She also sits eighth on the program's record list in the 4x400Â relay with a time of 3:39.57.
