Cassie Hageman Named Assistant Gymnastics Coach

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania head coach of women's gymnastics Kirsten Becker C'13 has announced the hiring of Cassie Hageman as an assistant coach.

"I am thrilled to welcome Cassie to our staff just in time for the upcoming season," said Becker. "Cassie has seen first-hand what it takes to rise on the national scene and we're excited for her to bring that same energy to Penn."

Prior to joining the Quakers, Hageman served as an assistant coach at Temple for two seasons. During the 2019-20 academic year, she was a graduate assistant for the Owls. In her role, Hageman assisted the coaching staff in daily administrative tasks, recruiting and overseeing all four gymnastics events. She also helped guide the team to their second consecutive ECAC championship, despite the season being cut short due to COVID-19.

"I'm so excited to join the Penn Gymnastics staff and help lead a program that strives to be competitive both athletically and academically," said Hageman. "I am very grateful to Kirsten Becker for this opportunity and look forward to taking this team to new heights within the Ivy league, GEC and on a national scale."

In her second season with Temple, Hageman was responsible for coaching the balance beam. Temple's beam team jumped 23 spots during the 2021 season, recording the highest NQS (49.144) in program history. Under her tutelage, two gymnasts earned All-EAGL honors and seven student-athletes garnered All-ECAC distinction.

A four-year student-athlete at West Chester, Hageman amassed numerous accolades as a Golden Ram. In each of the four years of her collegiate career, she won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Academic Achievement Award, was named to the ECAC All-Academic Team and was named an USAG Scholastic All-American. During each of her final three years at West Chester, she qualified for the USAG Collegiate Nationals.

While at West Chester, Hageman served as a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and participated in several leadership conferences. She gained experience mentoring young gymnasts as a coach at Roth's Crosspoint Gymnastics and at West Chester's summer gymnastics camps.

Hageman graduated from West Chester Magna Cum Laude in May 2019.

The Penn gymnastics team opens the 2022 on January 7 at the Keystone Classic hosted by Temple.
