PHILADELPHIA – Four members of the University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team garnered All-Ivy distinction as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. This marks the 24th consecutive season that three or more Quakers earned All-Ivy honors.
Juniors
Sizzy Lawton,
Emily Pringle, and sophomore
Lauren Teuschl are second team All-Ivy selections while sophomore goalkeeper
Laurence Gladu earned honorable mention status.
Lawton and Teuschl both finished 2021 with 13 points (3g,7a). The two forwards were key parts of the Quaker offense that boasted 29 goals as the two logged more than 2,500 combined minutes played. Lawton recorded the game-winning goals against Villanova and Yale. Teuschl had had three matches where she recorded multiple points, as she scored goals against George Mason, UIC, and Villanova. Teuschl was named Ivy League player of the week on September 20 after recording a goal and a pair of assists as Penn shutout Villanova and defeated Rice in overtime.
Pringle helped guide a Quaker defense to five shutouts and nine victories at Rhodes Field. She played in and started 15 matches and was on the field for the entire time in 12 of those matches. Pringle's first collegiate marker was the game-winning goal in a 2-0 Ivy victory against Cornell. Two weeks later, she recorded two assists in Penn's 4-0 victory against Yale.
Gladu played all but 45 minutes in goal for the Quakers in 2021. The sophomore, playing in her first collegiate season, led the Ivy League with 79 saves, posting a 0.94 goals against average. She registered five clean-sheet victories against UIC, George Washington, Villanova, Cornell, Delaware State, and Yale. Her five shutouts were just one shy of the league lead.
The Red and Blue finished above .500 for the third straight season. In head coach
Casey Brown's first season at the helm the Quakers went 9-5-2, which included a 9-1-0 mark at Rhodes Field in 2021.
