PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's fencing programs have announced their 2021-22 schedule, with competition slated to begin this weekend at the Temple Open.
The short trip to the Liacouras Center will mark the first official competition for the programs since the NCAA Regionals in March 2020. In all, roughly 500 fencers from more than 30 schools will participate in the two-day event; the women will compete on Saturday while the men will go on Sunday.
The programs will be back in action Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Elite Invitational hosted by Ohio State University, the teams' final event of 2021.
The Penn State Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 16 kicks off the 2022 slate, with the Quakers scheduled to host the Philly Invitational from the Tse Center the following weekend. That event marks Penn's final tune-up before the Ivy League Championships on February 5 and 6.
Temple will host its annual Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 26, the final event for the Quakers before the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, March 12.
The 2021-2022 season will conclude with the NCAA Championships hosted by Notre Dame taking place from Thursday, March 24 to Sunday, March 27.
