Swimming and Diving Hosts Harvard Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – For the first time in 2020, the University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving programs will grace Sheerr Pool in its final Ivy League dual and penultimate regular-season dual.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the Quakers will welcome defending Ivy League men's and women's champions, Harvard to Philadelphia to close out the Ivy League regular season slate.

Previewing the Penn Men
The Quakers enter their final Ivy League dual with a 4-3 record after a win against Dartmouth and a loss against Yale last weekend in New Haven. After a quartet of wins at the Miami Invitational to close out 2019, Sean Lee stood out for the Quakers once again with three individual event victories in New Haven.

Against Yale and Dartmouth, Lee won the 200 fly and 200 IM, and additionally clocked a season-best time of 47.85 en route to a first-place finish in the 100 fly. The junior captain has Penn's fastest time in each of those events (100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM) and has the third-fastest time in the 50 free and 100 free this season. He is also the program-record holder in the 100 fly (46.76) and 200 fly (1:43.56).

Boris Yang—a second-team All-Ivy honoree last year—has also continued to lead the Quakers in and out of the pool. Yang enters our meet against Harvard with the Ivy League's fastest time in the 200 breast.

Previewing the Penn Women
Penn prepares to close out the Ivy League's regular season slate after moving to 2-5 following a win against Dartmouth and a loss to Yale. The Quakers' promising young core

After spending a week in Atlanta at the US Open from December 4-7, Catherine Buroker returned to collegiate competition in a big way. Against Dartmouth and Yale, Buroker—the program-record holder in the 1,000 free—took first place in the meet's distance event, clocking in at 10:09.10.

Penn's second event winner in the Dartmouth, Yale tri-meet was Serena Xue. The senior took first place in the 200 breast with a 2:20.48 finish in New Haven. The win was her fourth in Penn's six meets this season, including the Miami Invitational. The two times she did not win the 200 breast this year (against Columbia and Princeton/Cornell) she was the runner-up.

Covering the Crimson
Harvard enters the weekend with both its men's and women's team a perfect 4-0 in Ivy League competition this season—including wins over Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, and most recently Brown on Wednesday.
