HOW IT HAPPENED
The Quakers drew first blood in the second inning as Hood homered for the eighth time of the season to give Penn a 1-0 lead. Cornell would claw back in the bottom of the frame after loading the bases on an infield error and plating a pair with a double down the left field line.
The hosts drove in another run in the third after a single up the right side scored a runner from third to give the Big Red a 3-1 lead.
Penn would edge back in front with three runs in the fourth. Phelan and Malinowski started the inning with a single and a double, respectively. Hood brought the Quakers within one as he plated Phelan with a single up the middle.
Adams tied the game, singling past a diving Cornell second baseman to bring in Malinowski and knot the game at 3-3. Courtney capped off the inning by pushing the Quakers in front with a sacrifice bunt to bring in Hood and make it 4-3 in favor of Penn.
Penn's one-run lead evolved into a four-run lead in the top of the second. After an infield error put McGeagh on base and a single by O'Neill, Malinowski crushed a three-run home run over the left field wall to give Penn a 7-3 lead.
Cornell would storm back after a pair of multi-run home runs. The Big Red halved Penn's lead with a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh and took the series with a three-run walk off home run in the ninth.
