PHILADELPHIA – Junior
Gabby Rosenzweig has been named one of 25 nominees for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award which is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college lacrosse.
A nominee for the second straight season, Rosenzweig is one of two Ivy Leaguers among the 25 selected. Her sister, Livy, is also among the 25 nominees for her efforts playing at Loyola. The group will be narrowed to five finalists on May 9 and the winner will be announced on May 30 at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
Rosenzweig leads the Quakers in scoring with 28 goals and 44 assists for 72 points. Her 72 points this season are tied for No. 5 all-time by a Quaker and are 13 away from the program record of 85 which Rosenzweig tied last season. Her 44 assists in 2019 are already a career-high and are No. 2 all-time by a Quaker.
She leads the Ivy League and ranks No. 6 in the nation with her 44 assists, and her 3.14 assists per game are also tops in the Ivy League with a No. 4 rank among all Division I players. Her 72 points are No. 1 in the Ivy League and No. 20 in the country, with her 5.14 points per game leading the Ivy League and holding a No. 10 rank nationally.
A 2018 third-team IWLCA All-American, Rosenzweig was a first-team All-Region and first-team All-Ivy selection last season.
The Quakers are 10-4 overall this season and 4-2 inside the Ivy League. Penn concludes the regular season on April 27 at Harvard at 12 p.m.
