PHILADELPHIA – Natalie Yang, of the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team, was named ECAC Specialist of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The honor is the third time this season the conference has named a Quaker as Specialist of the Week and the nod is Yang's first of her career. The freshman has excelled on beam all season long, posting a minimum score of 9.700 in all nine meets, including three scores of at least 9.800.
This weekend, Yang earned a career-high 9.875, the top score of the meet, on Friday at Southeast Missouri before garnering a 9.725 on Sunday at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo.
Just two meets remain for Penn before heading into the season-capping ECAC Championship, hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y. This Sunday, March 10, the Quakers head to Maryland for the second time this season to compete with Brown and Southern Connecticut, in addition to the host Terrapins. First rotation is set for 12 p.m. in College Park, Md.
