PHILADELPHIA – The No. 6 University of Pennsylvania women's squash team has enjoyed a successful 2018-19, recording their 13th ten-win season in the last 14 years. The outstanding year has led to the first-team all-Ivy selections of
Reeham Salah and
Jessica Davis. It is the ninth straight year that the Red and Blue have had multiple players honored in the all-Ivy selections.
"I'm very pleased to learn that Jess and Reeham earned all-Ivy recognition," said head coach
Jack Wyant. "They both have shown great leadership on and off of the court this season, helping the team achieve a ten-win season."
Salah, a unanimous selction, becomes the first four-time all-Ivy player for the Red and Blue since Kristen Lange from 2006-09 and is just the sixth in program history. The senior finished 13-1, including a 6-1 record during Ivy League play. Her only loss came to Harvard's Sabrina Sobhy who won this season's Ivy League Player of the Year.
Over her four years, Salah has been a staple at Penn's number one spot. All 13 of the defending CSA national champion's wins came via sweep, losing just 3.2 points per game.
Davis makes her debut on the all-Ivy list. The junior stepped into the number two role behind Salah this season and flourished as she won the only other Quaker with double-digit wins this season.
"It was a big surprise for me to be selected first-team all-Ivy," said Davis. "I didn't think it would be possible after coming back from an injury last year. I'm very grateful for the all of the time and effort that the coaches, trainers, and my teammates have given me. I couldn't have done it without them."
Davis suffered an injury early last season which sidelined her all year. The junior came back this year to go 5-2 during Ivy League play which included a win over first-team all-Ivy selection, Helen Teagen of Yale.
Penn finished the year 10-4 and will head to New Haven this weekend for the Howe Cup, its 17th straight appearance.
