PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team defeated Cornell in the quarterfinals of the CSA Team Championships on Friday at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center,
The Quakers advanced to the semifinals of the tournament and will take on #3 Stanford tomorrow at 3 p.m.
Allie Stoddard got the first win of the day for the Red and Blue, sweeping opponent Sabine Ball in the fifth spot.
Malak Taha followed with another 3-0 sweep for the Quakers as they took a 2-0 lead.
Senior captains
Jana Dweek and
Franka Vidovic secured the third and fourth wins for Penn as they needed just one more win to clinch.
Sohaila Ismail delivered the clinching fifth win with another sweep, in the fourth position over Vicky Lai.
Malak Khafagy and
Savannah Ingledew had the final two wins for the Quakers as they came away with the 8-1 win, advancing to tomorrow's semifinal match.
