NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of Pennsylvania men's fencing team may have come up short in its quest for a fourth straight Ivy League title, but the Quakers did find some individual success. Freshman
Emon Daroian finished tied for second in epee over the two days, earning first-team All-Ivy honors.
In fencing the top three finishers at the Ivy Championships in each weapon group earn first team All-Ivy while fourth through sixth earn second team.
Daroian was the highest placed fencer over the weekend for the Red and Blue. The freshman recorded two perfect, 3-0, outings on his way to an 11-4 record in epee. Daroian was also the only fencer with double-digit individual wins.
The freshman has had a successful rookie campaign. Stepping up in place of
Justin Yoo after the winter break, Daroian has 40 individual wins this season which included a perfect, 3-0, mark against No. 1 Notre Dame at the Northwestern Duals.
The Quakers will have next weekend off as they prepare for the Temple Invite the following week.
